The Mostra de Violão da Lira Ceciliana (Lira Ceciliana Guitar Festival) is a guitar festival held in the historic city of Prados since 2017. Its primary mission is to foster the exchange of knowledge and professional experience within the guitar community of the Campo das Vertentes region. The festival provides a dedicated space to connect guitarists at all stages of their journey, from established professionals and emerging artists to students and passionate amateurs.

 

The festival debuted in 2017, organized by AssoVio Vertentes (Associação de Violão das Vertentes). During its first two years, the exhibition was part of the Circuito de Violão das Vertentes. Since 2022, the event has been held independently, and as of 2026, it is produced by SERTÃO Americas. To date, the festival has completed successful editions in 2017, 2018, 2022, 2024, and 2025. This year, 2026, marks its sixth edition.

 

While independently organized through local partnerships, the festival proudly carries the name of the historic Lira Ceciliana de Prados. Founded in 1858, this institution is a vital guardian of the Minas Gerais Baroque repertoire and a pillar of regional culture. Since 1977, it has also hosted the Prados Music Festival, one of the oldest music festivals in Brazil.

 

The Mostra de Violão aims to place the guitar center stage within both the institution and the city itself. In recent years, the event has expanded to occupy various public spaces, weaving the music into the daily life of Prados.

 

The 2026 program pays tribute to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prados-born conductor Adhemar Campos Filho (1926–1997). In honor of his legacy, his works have been selected as the set pieces for the inaugural Lira Ceciliana Guitar Competition.

In addition to the competition, the 2026 lineup features performances by Claudia Garcia, Jefrey Andrade, Álvaro Maia, and the Guitar Orchestra of the Padre José Maria Xavier State Conservatory.
